The purple Japanese spiraea is a fast-growing, low-maintenance, and striking ornamental shrub, with dark red leaves and pale flowers that create contrast in the garden.
The purple Japanese spiraea are red-leaved varieties of the western spiraea, growing 2–2.5 meters tall and wide, with an upright and dense branching habit. The leaves are lance-shaped, broad, and toothed, staying purple throughout the growing season. Pale flowers bloom from June to July, standing out beautifully against the dark foliage, and the flower clusters develop into reddish capsule fruits by late summer, remaining on the branches through winter, adding decorative value well into autumn.
