Mango contains good nutrients, such as folate, vitamin C, and fiber – and it does not contain particularly much energy.
- The amount of folate in mango is significant. Everyone needs folate because it plays a major role in cell division, especially in the formation of red blood cells and thereby in energy levels.
- Bone health and eye health:
Vitamins A, E, and C are important for bones, immunity, muscles, mucous membranes, skin, and vision.
- Digestion:
Mango contains fiber, which maintains the feeling of fullness and promotes the functioning of the stomach.
Part of the fiber ferments in the large intestine thanks to the activity of gut bacteria. This is only beneficial, as the bacteria produce short-chain fatty acids that protect against many diseases, such as diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
In addition to fiber, mango contains gallotannins, which have a positive effect on certain types of gut bacteria.
- Mango also contains pectin, which helps in cholesterol management, as well as iron, which supports blood hemoglobin levels.
