The Italians have deliberately made Campari a somewhat mysterious drink.
The exact recipe of Campari is still a secret, but fortunately, we still know quite a lot about what is roughly in the bottle.
Often, the ingredients for the bitters are plant-based extracts in very small amounts.

SiriSiri: "Home kitchen SiriSiri uses only selected ingredients in food preparation, which have not caused any allergic reactions.
We are pleased to note that we can continue to use Campari to add more flavor to our dishes."

• Chinotto – a small, very bitter citrus fruit
• Cascarilla – an aromatic bark also used in vermouths
• Various herbs, spices, and roots – estimated to include up to 60 different plants
The exact list is not published, and it is part of the Campari brand.

Originally, Campari was colored carmine red with crushed cochineal insects (yes, insects!).
However, this has not been done since 2006.

Since it is an alcoholic beverage, the EU does not require as detailed an ingredient list as for food products. Therefore, bottles usually only display the alcohol content.
