Eye Health

Nutrition should include omega fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Too little intake of antioxidants can even make one susceptible to macular degeneration, especially if there are other hereditary risk factors.

Antioxidants protect the retina from harmful oxidative damage, and they help keep vision as good as possible.

Vitamins essential for the eyes are especially vitamins A, E, and C, as well as vitamin B2. Lutein is also important, as it, among other things, protects the retina from degeneration.

Vitamin A (and beta-carotene): Vitamin A supports night vision and corneal health.

Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and protects eye cells from oxidative stress.

Vitamin C supports the eye's connective tissues and acts as an antioxidant.

Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): Vitamin B2 helps prevent dryness and light sensitivity in the eyes.

Lutein is an important protective substance for the retina (macula) that acts like an "internal pair of sunglasses".
