Apricot
The health benefits of apricots are varied. They are an excellent source of antioxidants, which can help fight oxidative stress and support eye health.
Apricots also have nutrients that support digestive health and gut function.
Thanks to their high iron content, they can help in treating anemia and support healthy blood pressure.
Apricot seeds are especially useful in skincare, and using them can help reduce the effects of aging.
Finnish Food Authority - Amygdalin in Apricot Kernels:
Apricot kernels (Prunus armeniaca) (also known as "Bitter apricot kernels" or "Bitter apricot seeds", because they taste bitter) contain the cyanogenic glycoside, amygdalin. Amygdalin breaks down during digestion to form highly toxic cyanide. Children are especially sensitive to the health risks posed by cyanide. Even a single small apricot kernel can be harmful to young children. Symptoms of cyanide poisoning may appear immediately after eating and include restlessness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and a feeling of weakness. In case of poisoning, it is always recommended to contact a doctor.
